The best ideas are the ones that make you slap your forehead and say, “how did I not think of that?!” Swedish ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi Stockholm recently created Out Of Office Ad — a way to monetize automatic email responses through sponsorship.
As most of Europe takes a month off in August, employees will be switching their out of office notifications on without thinking about it. The alternative would be 0845 numbers – a great way to generate revenue from your customers but keep them informed and in the loop with new products and services. However, even these will be diverting you to voicemail.
Using Out of Office Ad Systems, companies large and small will be able to earn extra revenue by accepting ad sponsorship on their vacation autoreplies, or they’ll be able to donate such advertising space to the charity of their choice. There have been several example of websites trying to cash in on people who browse online and are given ads in between pages loading. But users are aware of these tricks and close ads before they can pay publishers. With this idea, it is seen to be a trusted form of advertising as it is a business connection or friend.
